05:53 pm - I has appliances That's right. The Saga is over. Last week, I went back to Home Depot, and terrorized them. We cancelled the original order totally, got money back, all that fun stuff. And then I placed the order again, with a substitute dishwasher since the original one we went for was on back order. They knocked $100 off, and promised me a delivery date of, well, today.
And so yesterday, I got the automated call, telling me they'd come between 10-2 today. And today, damned if they didn't show up around 1. And it took a while to get the dishwasher out, but ultimately, everything was installed, save for the fridge's water line, but that was okay because I expected that.
An hour later, I had the nice plumbers in to hook up the new fridge and cart off the old one, which they were going to use for their office. So everyone wins!
My stove is sitting pretty. My refrigerator is cooling and making ice. My dishwasher is running silent and steathily. My cats are baffled.
Of course, I still intent to write Home Depot a letter, praising those who helped us (and praising the new delivery company) and condemning the parts of this whole debacle that need it.
But for those who were following this, at least there is resolution. Current Mood: satisfied

Guess who I won't be using for my upcoming washer and dryer? I'm left with in the unenviable position of having to use a retailer I loathe in order to get what I want, simply because I need to order from a national company. HD is off the list, given the shenanigans you've been dealing with.
Ugh. Retailers suck.
Well, halle-flippin-lujah that it's finally over. Stinks that you had to raise that much of a fuss for it to get done, but I'm hugely relieved for you. Your story brought back uncomfortable memories of our own Home Despot woes when it came to getting services done (though in our case, the appliances went relatively smoothly, and the doors ended up being the true nightmare).
But anyway, yay you!
Glad to hear that you finally got the whole mess resolved. :)
And good for you, on being willing to write complaints for the abysmal service. :p They should credit you back some for all that - your time is valuable. Fortunately all my hardware store needs in the immediate future can be satisfied by Lowe's. Though I'll probably go with Angle Hardware in Rocky Mount, since I always give preference to local shops when I can.
On the other hand, I'm bummed that I didn't get to do the What Would Mal Do? thing with you. A good appliance breakout rescue followed by a Chinese buffet, I'm tellin' ya. |
