|04:58 pm - Contest Update!|
Well, the deadline has come and gone, and it's time to announce the lucky winners of the "Tell me how you'd retell a fairy tale with an eye towards queer/LBGT/etc sensibilities contest." As you may recall, at stake was a copy of Malindo Lo's fabulous lesbian YA retelling of Cinderella, Ash.
Because I only had two entries, it wasn't hard to pick a winner. Congrats, astres and bayushi, you both win a book. Drop me a private message with your contact information, and before you know it, you'll have your loot.
astres delivered, in her words, "Little Red Riding Hood rendition with lesbian identities and community impact."
bayushi wanted to see Rapunzel rescued by a princess.
Thanks for playing! I can see I'll need to rethink the hows and whys and whats if I want to run any more contests/give-aways... stay tuned for further developments.

Well, now, two entries is somewhat anti-climactic. But I'm sooooooooo excited to read ASH. Thanks, hun. I'll drop you a note :)
As for future contests, maybe spread the word through urbanfantasyfan and some other big communities. Getting people to relay the message helps, too.
Yeah, it wasn't the nail-biting suspense I was looking for. I'm going to be working on linking up my website with the greater online YA review community, among other plans.
I probably would have entered except that I'd gotten a free ARC of Ash at Comicon and already read it and sent it on to another friend.
This also seems to be the month or two of people being really busy and distracted.
Damn. I missed it. I would have totally thought of something if my week wasn't so nuts!
Yikes! I hadn't realized the deadline was so soon.
(I know. I should pay more careful attention. But I've not been on LJ much lately.)
Sorry, I was trying to be too clever and never came up with something "good enough" to post.

Thank you, Monkeyman!
