|01:26 pm - State of Being...|
Currently in New Orleans for the next week(ish).
Piggybacking wireless Internet off of my wife's laptop, thanks to the weird way the hotel is set up.
Have eaten at Mother's (mmmm, po'boy...) and Melting Pot (mmmm, fondue).
Now soliciting suggestions for places to go and places to eat and things to see.
We're staying a few blocks away from the French Quarter, and just off of St. Charles Street.
The city is our oyster, and the people have been very friendly so far.
Let the suggesting begin. My first time here, and I want to pack in some experiences while I can. We'll be here for the first weekend of Mardi Gras, and the parades go right past our hotel. :>
Thanks to Boston Legal all I can think of at the mention of that city is:
"I heard we're going to New Orleans, my penis is packed!"

I don't have any restaurant recommendations myself...
...But you may want to have a look over the last few entries, give or take, of Poppy Z. Brite's LJ. She's always writing about restaurants she likes, as you probably know.
Pick up a copy of my dear friend Mary Herczog's Frommer's Guide to New Orleans. It is the BEST and the FUNNIEST. She loves to eat (weighs about 90 pounds we so hate her) and she loves to write and I bet you can find the book anywhere. I sometimes read it just for the food porn and hotel descriptions...she and her husband love NOLA so much they bought a house there a few years back, and they spend a lot of time there. Have fun! Eat like piggies!
