07:45 pm - Brief Update
Sold: "The Muse's Mask," erotic urban fantasy short story to Like A God's Kiss, an ebook anthology aboout Greco-Roman gods and those who love/are loved by them, to be released by Circlet Press sometime in the near future.

Yeah, I'm psyched. I've always liked and respected Circlet, and getting to be in one of their collections is certainly an honor.

And yes, this is one of the bits of news I teased a little while back. The other, bigger news, is still under wraps while details are hammered out.

Carry on, and I'll update as soon as I have something else to share.

Oh, and it's alemya's birthday today. Yay! I'd have made this a separate post, but it's time to set the cake on fire.

Birthday: The Happying, a game of frosting and fire.

Thanks. Once I know the details, I'll be sure to post them. Even though it'll be mightily embarassing to think of people I know reading my smuttiest work yet. :>

Thanks. This actually ties in with some of my other works, where I'm slowly but surely finding places for the Muses in modern society.
Now if only I could -sell- most of those... :>

"Ebook anthology"? What is this madness? Does this mean no print copy? :[
Congratulations! Urban fantasy has neglected the Greco-Romans for far too long. I can't wait to read it!

It means that to start, it'll be electronic only, available for doanload for a reasonable price... though if it does go to print, I get paid again. Circlet does print and electronic both, so you never know...

Since you're family, I have to put on the responsible hat for a moment (ignore the cobwebs and cat hair on it). This -is- a collection of erotica. The sex, it's not exactly subtle. Turn 18 first, if you haven't already by the time it comes out. :> I don't want your parents yelling at me... (Mind you, my dear Mary told my side of the family the good news, leaving me to try to explain to my parents and sister and Grandmar why I wasn't sure they should read it, and the only person who had a problem ... was me. Sheesh, since when am I the person most concerned with propriety at the dinner table? So this entire digression is probably utterly unwarranted. Ignore it.)

If you like Greeks and Romans in UF, I'm sure we can find you something. Have you tried Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson and the Olympians series? It's YA, and utterly awesome in many ways. And not for being YA, for being chock-full of action, adventure, and more myth than you can sic a three-headed dog at.

Also Lyn Benedict's Sins & Shadows. It's urban fantasy, with a PI hired by the Greek God of Justice to find his missing lover. It uses all sorts of fun mythological stuff from several different traditions.

Oh, is that what erotica means? I had no idea. Thank you, cousin. In your place I would have worn a similar hat. (I'd consult your milliner, though. Fur is outdated, and downright cruel. ;] ) Mostly it was me being polite- very unlikely that I would be able to read it, unless it came out in print, and I'm guessing that that could take a while. By the time I read it, maybe I can enjoy a whole cocktail of sin- like alcohol! And firearms! At the same time! Wait...
Thanks for the suggestions. I'll look them up. :]

Alcohol, porn, and firearms... what do you think this is, the South? :>

My hat is a swanky wool fedora, purchased from New Orlean's finest hat store. I like to think I make it look good.

Give things some time, and I'll definitely have something in print worth reading. :>

If you don't think it's worth reading, there's a problem.
